A little bling

A few pretty things for you today:

(via Laura Lombardi)

I have a thing for handmade jewelry made of repurposed or vintage materials.  A little edge, a little quirk, a little eco-consciousness.

(via Sollis)

I wasn't much into the bib necklace trend, but this has a more streamlined look to it and I like the tribal feel.  Great color too.

Don't you love how they're mismatched?

Same with this one.  And you know how I love my thin banded rings.

Echoing my sentiments on the Laura Lombardi necklace above.  This design reminds me of lotus root.

And... a gratuitous picture of my nuggets of course!

Easy breezy

Love the simplicity and effortlessness with which she pulls off her look (and I want that top!).  Denim on denim can be sort of hideous in a lot of instances,  but paired correctly...

Also, I guess it doesn't hurt that she's stunning.

Another year older, a new chapter

I hope everyone had a peaceful weekend!  Mine was spent celebrating with close friends and family and mothering, mothering and mothering some more.

Birthdays are usually just another day for me, and as I get older, they become less and less significant.  This year, my birthday marks the beginning of a new chapter of my life as a full time mom for my twins. To celebrate the occasion as well as our upcoming anniversary, my husband surprised me with this!

My hubs is a very thoughtful man indeed.

And... my first attempt at making home made baby food.  For all you women / men out there making five-course meals every night, give a girl some credit!  Prior to this, I didn't even own, let alone know what a hand immersion blender was.  So yes, this makes me a very proud girl.

Why the odd shaped bits?  Because I forgot to peel them beforehand so I had to resort to using a paring knife.

Waiting patiently to get their grub on

Voila!

Thumbs up mom!

Oh, and why was I mothering so much this weekend you ask?  Because this is what hubs was doing for most of it:

Taking conference calls in the closet is what he's resorted to for some peace and quiet.

Have a good weekend!

Hope you all have a restful, fun-filled, laughter-filled Labor Day weekend!  See you Tuesday!

Closing time

Exactly 1.5 hours until it's closing time here.  All the packing's done, many good byes have been said and I had my final meeting with my boss.  Had a pretty honest discussion about future plans for the both of us and sentiments about leaving the law- me to be with my twins and take a different direction in my life, and him, to retire and also take a different direction in his life.  All said, it was a great wrap up to my career as an attorney.  I almost wish he would have been upset or cold or less appreciative so I'd have more of a "to hell with you all!" attitude as I left.  Have I mentioned how I'm not good at good byes?  Ha.

So here we go.  We'll see if I start a new blog called "Out of Office Off" in half a year, but for now, to infinity and beyond!  Cheers!

Hubby's Congratulations for Leaving Flowers next to his Congratulations for Being Back at Work Flowers, all in a matter of 1.5 months.  Ha.

A few of my favorite things

One more day and a few more hours until my work is done here (woohoo!)... the first thing on my to do list for next week?  I want to take a nap.  Chances are, that's not going to happen since even while I was on maternity leave, I took a total of 3 naps during the entire 4 months I was off, but here's hoping.  A long, restful, bags reducing, wrinkle minimizing nap (have I mentioned how tired I am?  I'm thinking this is just how it's going to be for the rest of my life).

Ok, so here are a few things I've been loving lately (or forever):

Aveeno Intense Relief Hand Cream

This has actually been my favorite hand cream for at least 4 years now.  I have this thing about greasy feeling hands or feet.  Hate it.  I've tried all sorts of hand creams out there from L'Occitane, Neutrogena, AHAVA, Kiehl's, you name it but I always come back to this one.  It's totally moisturizing and lasts for a while without feeling heavy or sticky or gross.  Right after you apply it on your hands, it sort of has a weird waxy feel but that goes away pretty quickly.

Jojoba Oil

Another staple.  I use this to take off eye makeup, add a little moisture to my skin and as sort of a leave in conditioner.  Great for dry ends.

Saint Natural- Lipstick Queen

This lipstick is super sheer and moisturizing.  It does fine without a lip balm underneath and gives you a really pretty sheer wash of a berry lip color which is totally work appropriate while brightening up your face.

Blue shoes!

Sorry for the ghetto camera phone pix, but I just had to show you my new shoes.  Hello blue shoes!  These pictures don't do them justice, but they're a really cool shade of blue, made of buttery soft Italian leather and are super duper lightweight and comfortable (no breaking in required!) annnnnd.... they were under a bill!  More pictures of these new puppies to come, perhaps with a few outfits of the day.
